Because the following responses to spam mail can produce more grief than solutions, we encourage you to refrain from the following actions.
Do not follow the spam email instructions that
encourage you to reply with the word "remove." Yours response
alerts the sender that your email address can receive mail. Their response
will be to add your email address to more spam lists.
Do not click on any URL or Web site address that
is contained within the spam email message. Again, this informs the sender
that your email address is valid and functional, allowing them to send
still more spam.
Do not respond to sites that advertise that they can remove your email address from spammer's mail lists. Although some of these sites are legitimate, others are collecting email addresses for future spamming. When you respond, the spammers are alerted that your email address is active which results in their using your address for future spamming.
